WordTracker - Overview
WordTracker has a Web-based interface which utilizes major metacrawlers namely Dogpile and Metacrawer. Developed by Andy and Mike Mindel, the WordTracker consists of 2 major components, namely the Keyword Universe which helps you get a broad range of keywords in brainstorming and the Keyword Researcher which helps you dig deep into the long tail of a specific keyword. This narrowed down niche markets are easier then to dominate.
WordTracker - Product Features
The value-add of the WordTracker, apart of identifying and targeting new online markets with newly discovered niche keywords or keyword phrases, includes checking keyword competition on multiple engines, directories and news sites and allowing import and rank of up to 500 keywords, exhaustive seed lists of keyword suggestions, saving precious time, customizing research.
How WordTracker Works
Keyword Universe Tool
Step 1 : Find related terms. Wordtracker will search other websites that score well on the search engines, shows you the keywords they use as well as expands your keyword lists by finding keywords that you might not have thought of originally.
Step 2 : Dig deep to see how a keyword is used in longer search terms
Your target keywords will appear in longer search terms. These longer terms may be easier to rank well for and can give you great ideas for content. The system gives output variables namely Count - the number of times the keyword appears in the wordtracker database of searches by real people; 24 hours predict - the prediction of number of times the exact keyword will be searched for across all search engines in a 24 hour period. (Dig allows you to dig even deeper into search terms). Continue this process for more keywords.
Step 3 : Export or email your keywords
Step 4 : Estimate how much competition of your keywords. Keywords are organized in descending order of KEI Index. The system gives output variables namely ‘Count’, ‘Competing’ which is the number of pages that show up when we search on your chosen search engine for the exact keyword, ‘24 hours predict’ as well as KEI i.e. keyword effectiveness index - a calculation based on the popularity of the keyword and the number of competing pages in Google results. The higher the KEI, the more attractive the keyword may be.
The Keyword Researcher
The Keyword researcher checks popularity of seed list of keywords, enables research on how those exact keywords are used in longer search terms to further enhance PPC conversion as well as enables research how keywords can be combined and ordered to give you more.
Using Keyword Researcher
Step 1 - Evaluate - Lets you research how many pages are competing against your keywords in the various search and PPC engines.
Step 2 - Export - Lets you export any data your have gathered in the researcher and evaluator.
Step 3 - Save - Allows you to save your keyword list to a project. Major output variables include "google" number of results, "Google KEI" and "Google 24 hrs Predict"
